One of the prides of Salem UCC elf and helping out in the community and beyond. Here is a list of organizations that Salem has supported.

Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief Buckets – The Sunday School Lenten Project for 2013 provided 13 buckets equiped with cleaning supplies necessary for clean-up after Hurricane Sandy devestated the Atlantic Coastal region of NJ and NY.

Pets In Need – A Love Offering to support Pets In Need animal shelter was taken during our Blessing of the Animals service in 2012. This money will be used for spaying/neutering the animals before they can be adopted.

Braille Outreach

Bath Area Food Bank – Salem UCC supports the food bank with our donations every week. If you would like to help those less fortunate, bring your non-perishable food items and place them in the basket at the back of the church. The food bank currently supplies food to about 135 families in our community each month. Volunteers are needed on distribution days to help carry the food for those unable to do it themselves.

Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen – Our church sends volunteers to help at the Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen. This outreach is open every Saturday of each month at Christ UCC in Bath, St. John’s UCC in Nazareth, and Nazareth Moravian Church.

Sunday School Lenten Mission Projects

Habitat for Humanity Volunteer Day

Meals On Wheels – Before Christmas, we also accept donations to buy Blizzard Boxes for Meals on Wheels of Northampton County. On the other bulletin board, there are marked envelopes for the boxes that are to be returned to the church. Each box costs $5.00, and we purchase many boxes for the elderly of our community.

Collecting to Support Other Groups – We are currently collecting items that will be passed on to other groups and organizations to help the needy. Bring your used eyeglasses, Campbell’s soup lables, soda can tabs, hearing aids, used postage stamps (no Forever Stamps, please), cereal box tops, cell phones, and Box Tops for Education to the Social Hall and they will be distributed to the proper groups.
